Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. The beautiful four-roomed crypt, with its striking marble floors and pastel-colored pillars, is the resting place of many Holy Roman emperors and German kings. During lunch, our elegant vessel glides away from our mooring as we commence an afternoon’s scenic cruising. Head up to the sun deck and take in the views from the comfort of a sun lounger or retire to the shady comfort of the lounge to chat over a coffee with newly made friends. The scenery becomes ever more dramatic, and as you enter the Bernese Oberland in central Switzerland, it becomes quite literally, breathtaking!

This is the grand alpine heart of Europe with some of the finest mountain scenery on earth, described by the composer Mendelssohn as ‘the most wonderful of all in this unbelievably beautiful country’. On viewing the legendary snow-capped peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau you’ll be quite simply awestruck. We then ascend by mountain railway for more extraordinary vistas, with the crystal-clear lakes reflecting the meadows and forests below. Later we’ll descend again by mountain railway before returning to the ship. Please note, temperatures will be significantly lower at altitude, even during the summer months, so it’s advisable to pack suitable clothing.

River Cruises in Switzerland

As the sun sets and the riverside lights begin to twinkle, enjoy the views through the restaurant’s panoramic windows as we commence our cruise towards Strasbourg, arriving later tonight. As the sun sets and the riverside lights begin to twinkle there are wonderful views over the imposing Vosges massif. You enjoy this evening’s dinner en route to Switzerland and our next mooring at Basel. Later you drive through some of Central Europe’s most stunning scenery – the Black Forest Mountains. Your final day cruising is spent gliding through the dramatic scenery of the rift valley separating the Vosges and Black Forest mountains.

Certainly, you’ll be rewarded with some truly awesome views when you reach the top. If you do find yourself with time for a look around, there are some key architectural attractions well worth seeing, including the strikingly red City Hall and the beautiful Munster, with its colourful tiled roof. Basel is regarded by many as Switzerland's cultural hub and also home to some excellent museums including its Fine Art Museum and distinctly original Paper Mill Museum. Basel makes the perfect destination for a river cruise in Switzerland so book ahead for your 2025 river cruise and enjoy early booking benefits.

Its beautiful four-roomed crypt is the resting place of many Holy Roman emperors and German kings. There’s free time to explore here before stepping back on board for another splendid dinner. Switzerland enjoys the distinction of being the country in which the Rhine, one of the world’s most famous rivers, begins its journey. From high up in the Swiss Alps, it flows down into the country and forms its border with neighbouring Germany, which you can enjoy on a Germany river cruise, before continuing onward. River cruises along the Rhine that begin and end in Basel, Switzerland, are sometimes packaged with a stay in Zurich, roughly 50 miles away.

Guests should be able to easily walk one to two miles, which may include climbing one or two flights of stairs and walking over uneven pavement, groomed hiking trails or cobblestones. To learn more about each port of call and our included as well as optional excursions, click on the individual days below. During dinner this evening our vessel arrives in the classic Rhine wine village of Rüdesheim, so you might fancy wandering ashore to enjoy a digestif – perhaps a glass of Asbach, the famous brandy distilled locally.

It can be printed or emailed to your fellow travelling companions to assist you in your trip planning. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship for the duration of your cruise. As evening falls, thoughts turn to what might be on the menu tonight, so head to the relaxed ambiance of the ship’s restaurant as the chef presents another delicious meal. We have made steady progress overnight and this morning we are berthed in the ancient town of Breisach. After a leisurely breakfast stroll ashore, explore this picturesque town’s historic heart, which is surrounded by immense stone ramparts and dominated by the impressive Saint Stephan’s Cathedral.

Someone always picking up glasses and trash, taking used towels off chairs unoccupied. Just a couple notes from our recent (July 23) Infinity cruise to share with you. My sister and I cruised together and we found the ship to be generally in good condition. This was just a quick get away for us and we really just wanted to lay around and relax for a week. We are seasoned cruisers with over 20 cruises each,  on different lines. Celebrity is my preferred brand and Disney is my sisters.

Where does Celebrity Reflection sail to?

We decided to ride the trolley around before deciding where to get off. All 3 stops are within walking distance of each other. It looks to me like Hilton owns all the property in this section of the island. The trolley stops at the Hotel where you have an infinity pool, then the fishing pier where there are a couple shops, then Resorts World then the public beach.

Today's Birthdays - Enjoy your day!

When the ship is in Europe, you can expect to find a fairly international mix of passengers. We are on the Infinity right now. Save your money on le Petite Chef. It is great is when there are just a few guests. We tried it again on this cruise as we loved it in the past...it was awful.

Infinity... Just a few thoughts from our recent cruise.

When first proposed it was described as it's own private enclave. Then later descriptions implied it was just an extension of the Hilton and Resorts World Beaches, which is not the same as a totally separate enclave. If you look at Google maps Satellite view you'll get a definitive answer.

We actually asked our attendant not to deliver them after the first day because everything is on the app. The only thing we found different was the "sale" papers that come in them. The sales are not listed on the app. We were about 1800 passengers we were told. The Theater is really hit or miss.  As a high school teacher....

Celebrity Edge Review

Celebrity Edge is a different ship from the rest of the Celebrity Cruises fleet and was designed to attract people who have never cruised before. Celebrity typically draws middle- and upper-class folks in their mid-40s and older. The pool decks never felt crowded and there were always servers coming around to check on us. We stayed on the upper deck with a nice breeze.

The same was true on QM2 in March. Covered in rust and you could barely see through the glass rail. The worst condition I’ve ever seen her in. In fact, many traditional cruisers may have a hard time with the ship.

They were understaffed and the amount of guests were too many for this type of venue. I live in Georgetown about 3 miles from the Franklin County line, lol. Eat in Frankfort all the time, closer than going into Georgetown. You are lucky your A/C worked in your cabin and hallway,  and you did not have mildew in your shower stall and on the curtain..

It's a totally separate Beach Club that sits within the the Resorts World Hilton complex but isn't connected at all to the Hilton Hotels. Having said this who actually owns the beach club and/or developed it is still not clear. There definitely is joint agreements as to the usage. We board Infinity a week from Saturday. Will be our first time back on M-class in many moons. In Bimini is that beach and pool at Resorts the same as the Virgin Beach Club that Virgin Voyages uses, or something totally different?

Celebrity Edge didn't just revolutionize entertainment. The ship has turned tendering -- that often unpleasant experience where you have to board a small boat to get to a port -- into an infinitely more pleasant experience. The Magic Carpet is a tennis court-sized moveable deck, kitted out with an open-air lounge and bar.

These shows (with the exception of the Piano Man and the Comedian) reminded me of HS Musicals. LOL  The piano guy was AMAZING and he preformed another night in the lounge. Get there early, people were sitting on the floor! We went to the adult comedian show in the theater and he was super funny. The only pool game we saw was passenger vs officers volleyball. There were no themed nights on our cruise.

I heard when a Virgin ship isn’t in port you can pay to spend the day at their Beach Club. We will be on the same itinerary in September and these ports are new to us except Key West so it is great to have reports from recent cruises. Seems like Resort World is the better option for Bimini especially with the pool since there have been some recent reports of jelly fish in the water. Find your Celebrity Edge Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below. Find your Celebrity Summit Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below.

Infinity is/ was a nice  cozy shp but needs a serious overhaul from inside out. Thanks for posting about Infinity. Appreciate your thoughts on the ship and also about each of the ports.

The Best Time To Cruise Alaska What To Expect In Every Month

best time to cruise alaska to see northern lights 2023

Research the best times to visit each destination and consult with your cruise operator for expert guidance on optimal viewing spots and excursion options. The northern lights— known to science enthusiasts as the aurora borealis— are like a colorful dance party in the sky. Your best bet for catching these magical lights are in locations close to the Arctic Circle. This is because the magnetic fields of Earth’s North and South Poles are consistently weak enough for the sun’s charged particles to enter our atmosphere at high speed. The Yukon, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay National Park — Alaskan cruises offer direct access to the last American frontier.

Go to Fairbanks and the Auroral Oval

These tours take you to destinations such as Fairbanks and other inland areas, which typically have clearer skies compared to the Inside Passage where cruise ships navigate. While it is possible to catch a glimpse of the lights from Denali National Park and Preserve during the viewing season, your chances improve significantly when you venture further north to Fairbanks and beyond. When planning to witness the Northern Lights on an Alaska cruise, it's crucial to pick the right time. The best time to see these celestial wonders is during the transition from daylight to night, when the city below is embraced by darkened skies. While many visitors travel to the Great Land in anticipation of this cosmic spectacle, there are factors that can obstruct the view.

Book Your Alaska Cruise Vacation

Whether accommodating dietary restrictions, celebrating special occasions, or providing additional support during activities, the crew is dedicated to each adventurer’s needs. Add to that a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights in their full glory, and the adventure possibilities are as varied as Alaska’s magnificent landscapes. Yet, the core mission remains unchanged—to provide transformative experiences and memorable adventures for guests.

Adventure Awaits on a Cruise to Québec, Newfoundland and New England

With the airport located just a short drive away, visitors can fly into Fairbanks and be at a world-class aurora-viewing venue in less than an hour. How to Increase Your Chances of Seeing the Lights?

The Borealis is composed of solar particles shooting into the magnetic field of the earth and appear more than 60 miles above the earth’s surface. Weather in Alaska in August may keep some cruisers away, but there are still many excursions and experiences to enjoy. Bridgett Quinn Weber, an advisor with Cruise Specialists who works with expedition cruises offered the advice below. Glimpsing the Northern Lights in all their mystical and sky-transforming glory is one of those bucket-list life experiences that many world travelers often wait years to see.

The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are the iconic lights that whimsically paint Alaska’s skies seafoam green, fluorescent yellow and bright notes of fuchsia. While they appear transcendental, they are actually caused by collisions between gases in the earth’s atmosphere and those in the sun’s atmosphere. The solar winds that circle the globe create unique arrangements that can appear as rippling currents or dancing rays. Beyond the rewards of seeing the northern lights, the bonuses of winter season Northern Lights cruises are the stunning contrasts of scenery and the variety of onshore activities.

And in some ports, cruise guests may learn about and visit with some of Norway’s indigenous Sámi people who, under Norwegian law, are generally the only people in Norway who may own and herd reindeer. Iceland, Greenland, and polar regions around the Northwest Passage promote some of their active, adventurous cruises around the equinoxes in September and March as northern lights viewing opportunities as well. Lines cruising in these regions include Hurtigruten, Silversea, Lindblad Expeditions, Viking Cruises, Quark Expeditions, Adventure Canada, and others. When planning your Alaskan cruise, consider the ports of call that align with your desired Northern Lights viewing experience.

Multi-Day Winter Vacation

Select ships also offer an onboard viewing experience with the indoor planetarium located in the Princess Theater. Venture on a cosmic voyage with a Stargazing specialist and uncover the secrets of the skies above. The cruise season in Alaska is short (just May-September), but what this state lacks in winter tours it makes up for in stunning summer vistas, exciting wildlife and a travelogue of iconic land excursions.

If you’d rather cruise to Alaska in summer, don’t expect to see the northern lights, but do soak up that midnight sunshine. Alaska cruises from Princess can transport you to enchanting and intimate ports of call that boast culinary and cultural experiences for all. Whether or not you’re lucky enough to witness the aurora borealis, your adventure to the Great Land will be just as enlightening and colorful as Alaska’s iconic skies. Onshore activities for cruisers might range from museum and science center visits to dogsledding with huskies, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing, and scenic helicopter rides. Some cruises offer guests opportunities to spend a night in a snow-ice hotel and visit wildlife sanctuaries where wolves, wolverines, musk oxen, elk, reindeer, and other Arctic mammals might be spotted.

Spanning 13.2 million acres, this national park is the largest protected reserve in the United States. Travelers can bed down at the 14-person Ultima Thule Lodge for a wild adventure filled with glacier trekking, rafting, fishing in Tebay Lake, and (of course) waiting for the northern lights to flicker across the sky. The northern lights occur because of solar activity, so during the early part of the solar cycle, known as solar minimum, there is a smaller chance of experiencing a full-on auroral storm. As we move toward solar maximum, which returns in 2025, the odds of seeing the northern lights will increase. The Alaska cruise season winds down in October, with only a few ships setting sail. Just as in April and May, you’ll likely have the water to yourself, and even fewer people in the ports you call upon.

It’s easy when the inky night sky comes alive with an amazing light show like the aurora borealis. Braving the cold is nothing if you get a chance to see the lights dancing and waving overhead. Combine your aurora viewing trip with a few other highlights planned out by Salmon Berry Tours, and you’ll experience the best of winter in Alaska.

Guests enjoy unlimited access to a variety of meals throughout the day, including early-riser breakfasts, lunches, dinners with multiple entrée options, and snacks in between. The beverage selection is also unlimited, featuring fine wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails, ensuring guests can savor their favorite drinks or try something new without any additional charges. Cruisetours like the 13-Night Great Frontier Expedition (8A Northbound) and the 13-Night Grand Heartland Adventure (7A Northbound) show Alaska’s many majestic sides.

Because the northern lights often appear late at night or very early in the morning, some ships offer opt-in wake up calls for this purpose. Cunard’s Norway and Northern Lights cruise is a 12-day roundtrip along Norway’s coastline from Southampton, England on Queen Mary 2, or Queen Victoria ships. Guest speakers, astronomers and award-winning photographers are usually on board to join guests on deck to each evening to scan for and enjoy the northern lights show. Both Hurtigruten Expeditions and the Hurtigruten’s Norwegian Coastal Express, offer a good number of itineraries that showcase the Northern Lights. If you’re planning an Alaskan cruise specifically to see the Northern Lights, it’s important to choose the right time of year.

If you want to spot herds of caribou, book an Alaska cruise that puts you in range of Denali National Park. And with salmon runs in full force, you can catch fishing bears in the southeast. You will find local asparagus on some menus in southeast towns later in the month, and fiddlehead season also begins in Alaska in May. However, most of Alaska's tastiest fruits and vegetables aren't on offer until later in the summer.

Travel in Style: Best Rooms on a Cruise Ship

royal caribbean cruise rooms

All of Royal Caribbean’s ships are designed to welcome travelers with special needs—including our largest, Symphony of the Seas. You can customize your accommodations to meet your needs in advance of your trip with a dedicated team of experts. From planning the perfect date night at sea, to arranging exclusive one-of-a-kind experiences designed around you, your Royal Genie will make sure every aspect of your adventure is taken care of. Royal Caribbean has something for everyone when it comes to cabins on its ships. You can book a small, inside cabin that will get you on board one of the line's vessels at a very reasonable cost, or a huge suite that will set you back many times more but come with all sorts of perks. Royal Caribbean has built ocean-view cabins at the front of some ships that incorporate the angled space in the front part of the superstructure.

Wondering if you should pick a stateroom that’s forward or aft? We’ve got you covered.

In the Ultimate Family Suite, you don’t even have to leave your stateroom to enjoy the thrills. Plus there’s plenty of perks for parents too, like a private balcony jacuzzi. And our biggest suite ever, the Ultimate Family Townhouse on Icon of the Seas℠ maxes memories across three levels. There is one variation on the oceanview stateroom, which offers even more of a windowed view without the balcony. The reason to consider an oceanview room is if a view is important to you, but the price of a higher-category stateroom is not possible. Alternatively, sometimes the price difference between an inside room and an oceanview is not too large, and someone may want to upgrade their room option at not a lot of extra cost.

For a lot of cruise fans, having their own balcony to see every morning, enjoy the ocean as it passes by, and watch the sunset from is worth it every time. Unlike the top deck of the ship, there is no one to contend with to get a great view of the ocean. Moreover, it is your place to enjoy in the morning and evening, or with a cup of coffee. When you have a genie, you don't have to plan anything on your own. The genie can arrange for pretty much anything you want to do onboard and it's an incredibly liberating experience. From bypassing the line for the FlowRider or laser tag to catered parties in your suite and priority elevator access, you will rarely have to wait for anything.

Loft Suites (aka Duplex Suites)

You'll be able to see an incredible range of wildlife during your stay. Uncover 8 of the best Mediterranean cruise destinations while on your travel vacation. Adventure awaits those who seek it, enjoy a guide tailored to you.

Take a good look at the cruise ship deck plan - room location is crucial!

The Royal Loft Suites on Quantum-class vessels are nearly 1,640 square feet and also sprawl over two decks. There are far fewer balcony cabins on older Royal Caribbean ships (and all older cruise ships in general). Only 12% of the cabins on Royal Caribbean's oldest vessel, the 1996-built Grandeur of the Seas, are balcony cabins. We’ve broken it down to help you decide which stateroom fits your vacation needs.

These comfortable NYC-style lofts include double windows set over two levels for a stylish, contemporary accommodation. In a Royal Loft, for example, you get a private balcony and king-sized bed in the master bedroom, private bathrooms, a full living area, priority check-in and valet service to boot. The loft options come in a few sizes, making them perfect for a quiet romantic trip or a big family vacation. The smaller Star and Sky Loft Suites are 750 square feet, while Crown Loft Suites are 500 square feet and accommodate up to four passengers. If it's the fresh ocean air billowing past that you're after, then look no further than a balcony stateroom.

The takeaway here is that you'll have a tougher time locking down a balcony cabin on an older Royal Caribbean ship than on a newer vessel. If you're planning a cruise on one of the line's older vessels and a balcony cabin is a must, you'll want to book early to ensure you get one. All of our cruise ships are equipped to accommodate any special needs — just let us know and we’ll make you feel at home. It’s about unforgettable experiences — moments that inspire, service that exceeds expectations, and one-of-a-kind adventures that give you stories to bring home. You’ll discover all that and more when you sail in Royal Suite Class.

Cove balconies, unlike Balconies, have two patio chairs and a table. First of all-balcony, and again twin beds that convert to king, sofa, private bath with shower, safe, closet, mini bar, television and phone, sitting area with chair and coffee table, bathrobes and hairdryer. Another type of ocean view cabin is the Panoramic Ocean View Stateroom. The primary reason to book this room is for more expansive views without having to pay for a balcony. If stateroom location is important to you, you should be aware that you will have fewer locations to pick from. Since the majority of exterior-facing cabins are balconies, ocean view staterooms are usually found on the lowest decks, as well as the forward and aft of higher decks.

AquaTheater Suite - 1 Bedroom

royal caribbean cruise rooms

Note that these amenities are only available to those who book Sky and Star Class rooms. Those staying in standard Junior or Sunset Junior Suites cannot access The Grove, and Coastal Kitchen is only available to them for dinner, subject to availability. Coastal Kitchen is the elegant suite-only dining room that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has views straight into the enclosed AquaTheater.

There's more to a European cruise vacation than just packing your bags! Plan the perfect trip on your travel getaway to visit the best places in Europe. Discover the best things to do as a local while traveling to Spain for your own Barcelona vacation experience with these helpful ideas & travel tips. Families can look to budget cruises for affordable summer vacations that appeal to kids and adults alike.

There are 2 upper beds and a sofa bed, private bathroom with whirlpool hot tub and glass shower, safe, TV and phone, mini-bar, bathrobes, hairdryer. The suite experience onboard Vision, Radiance, Voyager, and Freedom Class ships is more standardized. Like the Royal Suite Class, though, the suite you book will determine what perks you will get. Junior Suites, for instance, only include double loyalty points, priority boarding, bathrobes, luxury bathroom amenities, and a Lavazza espresso machine. You should, however, be prepared to spend a pretty penny for these Royal Suites, as you will be receiving a premiere cruise experience compared to those staying in standard cabins and suites on older ships.

When traveling with a group of friends, there are many options to choose from. Each category has options that offer maximum space to spread out. From Spacious Interior rooms to Ultra Spacious Ocean View rooms, to our top of the line Villa Suite with four bedrooms. From Junior Suites to Loft Suites, there are a number of options to choose from. Nearly all suites offer access to a concierge lounge and the services of the concierge host. Cabin suites usually consist of more than one room in your cabin and have the most space of any cabin.

If you're interested in Alaska's gold rush history, Skagway — 90 miles northwest of Juneau — is a port you shouldn't miss. In fact, it's the gateway to the Klondike and Dawson mining district in Canada's Yukon territory, where prospectors searched for gold in the late 1890s.

Humpback whales can be found in the waters of the Gulf of Alaska and are some of the most frequently spotted, though you may also see orcas and gray whales as well. The cost of an Alaskan cruise, of course, rises during high season and will be less expensive before and after those months during shoulder season.
