The Giffords Law Center’s Annual Gun Law Scorecard finds that gun violence in general and against police in particular is higher in states with relaxed gun laws. Looser gun laws can infuse tensions into scenarios like that in Charlotte, where police are trying to separate unlawful carriers from their guns. Due to Florida legislative changes in 2021, a code inspector may not initiate an investigation of a potential code violation based on an anonymous complaint.

Earlier today, four brave law enforcement officers - including a Deputy U.S. Marshal - were killed in the line of duty. They are heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, rushing into harm’s way to protect us. And we pray for the recoveries of the courageous officers who were wounded. (WBTV/Gray News) — Four law enforcement officers were killed, and four others were wounded while trying to serve an arrest warrant in a neighborhood in Charlotte.

We have to coordinate with police, which includes traffic accidents, physical attacks, deaths and deplorable conditions. As I said before, code enforcement is not an easy job and it is not for the faint-hearted. Unfortunately, there are minimal outlets for code enforcement officers to go to about these issues.

These code officials can answer your code questions and offer guidance as you try to plan your project from conception to submittal. After your project is submitted for plan review or in the field for inspections, this team can still assist, however, the interpretations of your Plans Examiner or Field Inspector will take precedent. Furthermore, code enforcement always has to come up with new solutions to address new concerns, and we have to coordinate with different departments in a jurisdiction. Examples include, but are not limited to, public works, licensing, fire departments, building, finance, mayoral executive offices, city attorney, engineering, police or planning. There is no unique standard where code enforcement belongs, because we work with all. But gun violence is putting pressure on their relationship with Republican lawmakers, who are often proponents of looser gun laws.

You can add on to your house if there is enough room in your yard and the addition meets the current NC building codes. Contact the appropriate zoning jurisdiction for your area regarding set-backs and space requirements for the addition. If there are different contractors installing low voltage wiring, each contractor will need to submit separate permit applications. If this wiring is part of a larger overall project under construction, the Electrical permit application will need to have the six (6) digit county project number of the larger project.

A building setback is the required distance that a building (structure) must be located from the property lines of the adjacent property. Generally, code enforcement officers are quasi law enforcement personnel who work for local or county government departments. Interior Demolition permits for commercial work are issued through the CIRC. Interior Demolition is the demolition of interior components that do not affect rated assemblies and/or load bearing walls. Customers will need to complete a building permit application, include sub-contractors for any trade (E, M, or P) that has elements also being removed, and submit this application to the CIRC online or in person. My mom signed me up for cheer and I went to every practice eager to learn the material, as I was determined to make the team. I practiced so much around the house; my parents would yell, “sit down”. I went in the gym with 4 other girls and put on a show, so I thought. I left out the audition feeling really good and excited about becoming a cheerleader.

I was ecstatic to hear my name; “Erica” called for the varsity cheer team. After college I began working and pursuing a career for myself. Because of my love for children I decided to look into volunteer work involving the youth. In 2009 I was given the opportunity to be an assistant coach for C-Meck Cowboys. Thereafter, I became Head Coach and volunteered my services for 5yrs. There’s a quote that states, “When you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life”.

All cheerleaders and football players were told to be back at the gym at 6pm to view the roster of those who made the team. When we returned to the gym to view the roster, I took off running to the door certain my name would be on the list. I scrolled through the names very fast, but did not see my name. I decided to slow down and look carefully b/c I must have passed my name, but my name wasn’t on the Cheerleader roster.

I assumed there was a mistake and perhaps my name was on the football roster in error. I began to scroll slowly through the football player’s roster, but there was no “Erica”. After that day I never tried out for cheer again, until I got to college. My sophomore year I decided to try out for the Luv-A-Bulls cheer team, who had just won the National Championship the previous year. I worked very hard to learn the material and was determine to give it my all come audition day. Shortly after auditioning both teams, JV and Varsity were selected.

Party leaders of the United States House of Representatives Wikipedia

In most cases, members do not refer to each other only by name, but also by state, using forms such as "the gentleman from Virginia", "the distinguished gentlewoman from California", or "my distinguished friend from Alabama". Seats vacated during a term are filled through special elections, unless the vacancy occurs closer to the next general election date than a pre-established deadline. The term of a member chosen in a special election usually begins the next day, or as soon as the results are certified. Representative Hilda Solis.[11] He was elected to the California State Assembly in 2012, and served there until his election to Congress. These differences have lessened over the years, but representatives elected to the House tend to be more engaged in the districts and communities they represent. Because they are elected every two years, they are typically more aware of current public opinion among their constituents. The plan, laid out in a rule that passed on Friday, was concocted to capitalize on the pools of support for each part of the $95 billion package, while preventing opposition to any one piece from taking down all of them. The Democrats controlled the House from 2019 until 2023 when Republicans overtook their majority in the most recent midterm elections. Republicans have already signaled they won't agree to raise the debt limit unless some major cuts are made to programs like Social Security and Medicare. So that battle over that issue could impact financial markets and even the nation's credit rating.

The internet has enabled a flood of money from small donors, which, Mr. Pildes said, has allowed politicians to bring in large sums without having to rely on large donors or party funds. Indeed, a Times investigation last year found that objecting to the results of the 2020 Electoral College was politically profitable. In all, more than one-third of the 41 Republican newcomers explicitly denied the results of the 2020 election, were supported by the House Freedom Fund, or both. Representative Harriet Hageman of Wyoming, who has also denied the 2020 election results, defeated Representative Liz Cheney in the primary. Ms. Hageman was appointed by Mr. McCarthy to the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which will focus on finding evidence that the government has silenced and punished conservatives.

The Senate could take up the package this coming week, and President Joe Biden has said he supports the bill and will sign it. If that happens, TikTok is expected to challenge the bill in court. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this afternoon that would require TikTok owner ByteDance to sell the popular social media app or see it banned in the United States. Former Virgin Galactic CEO George Whitesides and Francisco Carrillo, who was wrongly convicted of murder and served two decades in prison before being released, are the Democrats now challenging Garcia.

Rep. Mike Johnson

The speakership reached its zenith during the term of Republican Joseph Gurney Cannon, from 1903 to 1911. The speaker's powers included chairmanship of the influential Rules Committee and the ability to appoint members of other House committees. However, these powers were curtailed in the "Revolution of 1910" because of the efforts of Democrats and dissatisfied Republicans who opposed Cannon's heavy-handed tactics. Another scholar contends that the minority leader position emerged even before 1883. "It is hard to believe that House partisans would place a man in the speakership when in the majority, and nominate him for this office when in the minority, and not look to him for legislative guidance."[28] This was not the case, according to some observers, with respect to ex-Speaker Keifer. House minority leaders also hold joint news conferences and consult with their counterparts in the Senate—and with the president if their party controls the White House.

Political positions

Many state Republican lawmakers sharply objected on Wednesday to the push to undo the Civil War-era ban that has roiled the politics of the state after the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that it is enforceable. The new bill was passed , with strong support from a majority of both Republicans and Democrats. It’s part of a larger package that includes foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, and was likely included as a way for House Speaker Mike Johnson to attract more conservative support. “These seats will help determine who controls the House for the rest of the decade,” Mitchell said.

Hence, the power of joint committees is considerably lower than those of standing committees. The speaker is the presiding officer of the House but does not preside over every debate. Instead, they delegate the responsibility of presiding to other members in most cases.

Katie Porter is optimistic about the future of her congressional seat — and her career

Gingrich attempted to pass a major legislative program, the Contract with America and made major reforms of the House, notably reducing the tenure of committee chairs to three two-year terms. Many elements of the Contract did not pass Congress, were vetoed by President Bill Clinton, or were substantially altered in negotiations with Clinton. The Republicans retook the House in 2011, with the largest shift of power since the 1930s.[14] However, the Democrats retook the house in 2019, which became the largest shift of power to the Democrats since the 1970s.

The overall objectives are to develop a coordinated communications strategy, to share ideas and information, and to present a united front on issues. Minority leaders also make floor speeches and close debate on major issues before the House; they deliver addresses in diverse forums across the country, and they write books or articles that highlight minority party goals and achievements. In addition, the minority leader has a number of other institutional functions.

The minority party chooses not to take a position on an issue, perhaps because of intraparty divisions. The number rose following the ratification of the Constitution by North Carolina and Rhode Island in 1790; the first Congress (1789–91) adjourned with 65 representatives. Two additional representatives were added temporarily after the admission of Alaska and Hawaii as states in 1959, but at the next legislative apportionment, membership returned to 435, the number authorized by a law enacted in 1941. One of five newcomers who opposed Mr. McCarthy’s speaker bid, Representative Anna Paulina Luna, took over a seat previously held by a Democrat, Charlie Crist, who ran against (and lost to) Ron DeSantis for Florida governor. Ms. Luna has explicitly said the 2020 election was stolen and has joined the House Freedom Caucus.

There are approximately 20 standing (permanent) committees, organized mainly around major policy areas, each having staffs, budgets, and subcommittees. They may hold hearings on questions of public interest, propose legislation that has not been formally introduced as a bill or resolution, and conduct investigations. Among important standing committees are those on appropriations, on ways and means (which handles matters related to finance), and on rules. There are also select and special committees, which are usually appointed for a specific project and for a limited period. The Constitution provides that the House may choose its own speaker.[50] Although not explicitly required by the Constitution, every speaker has been a member of the House. The Constitution does not specify the duties and powers of the speaker, which are instead regulated by the rules and customs of the House.

A Close Look at the Chaotic House Republican Majority The New York Times

Under Rule XIII, clause 6, the Rules Committee may not (except in certain specified circumstances) issue a "rule" that prevents the minority leader or a designee from offering a motion to recommit with instructions. With the Republicans holding a majority of seats and the Democrats holding a minority, the current leaders are Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, and Minority Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts. Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee, the member who screamed, “It’s your fault! ” when Mr. Biden called for an end to the fentanyl crisis during the State of the Union address, replaced Representative Jim Cooper, a Democrat who retired after redistricting diluted Democrats’ power in the Nashville-area district. Mr. Ogles also opposed Mr. McCarthy’s speaker bid and has explicitly said the 2020 election was stolen. Across the ideological spectrum are 119 of the 139 representatives who objected to certifying the 2020 Electoral College results, including all but one member of the House G.O.P. leadership team.

The speaker chooses the chairs of standing committees, appoints most of the members of the Rules Committee, appoints all members of conference committees, and determines which committees consider bills. Most are in swaths of California that voted for President Biden yet elected a GOP congressional representative — districts that both parties consider prime battlegrounds in 2024. While a few are in the Central Valley, the bulk are in Southern California. An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified the political party of a group of representatives who notably voted “no” on new aid for Israel.

Leadership

The district should be a solid pick-up opportunity for Democrats, but they have failed miserably three elections in a row. Strategists say a lack of investment by national Democrats was driven by both the expense of political advertising in Los Angeles, one of the most expensive media markets in the nation, and a lack of confidence in Garcia’s Democratic rival in the contests, Christy Smith. The former assemblywoman blasted her party for failing to back her in last year’s election. This election, the Republican is expected to receive stronger financial support and his Democratic rivals lack Porter’s fundraising prowess.

Here’s what results in key California House races look like so far

The presiding officer is the Speaker of the House, who is elected by the members thereof. Other floor leaders are chosen by the Democratic Caucus or the Republican Conference, depending on whichever party has more voting members. In most states, major party candidates for each district are nominated in partisan primary elections, typically held in spring to late summer. In some states, the Republican and Democratic parties choose their candidates for each district in their political conventions in spring or early summer, which often use unanimous voice votes to reflect either confidence in the incumbent or the result of bargaining in earlier private discussions.

No further punishment is permitted during the impeachment proceedings; however, the party may face criminal penalties in a normal court of law. The House also has one permanent committee that is not a standing committee, the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and occasionally may establish temporary or advisory committees, such as the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. This latter committee, created in the 110th Congress and reauthorized for the 111th, has no jurisdiction over legislation and must be chartered anew at the start of every Congress. The House also appoints members to serve on joint committees, which include members of the Senate and House. Some joint committees oversee independent government bodies; for instance, the Joint Committee on the Library oversees the Library of Congress. Other joint committees serve to make advisory reports; for example, there exists a Joint Committee on Taxation.

Orange County’s swing seats

Valadao is also being challenged from the right by a fellow Republican, former Fresno City Council member Chris Mathys. President Biden won the district in the 2020 election and it’s poised to be one of the most competitive districts in the country in November, unless a Democrat fails to make the runoff. Deep-blue California has long been a Democratic stronghold in presidential contests.

Leadership posts

With Republicans holding a razor-thin three-seat majority and California home to several swing seats, control of Congress in 2025 could very well be decided by voters in Golden State suburbs. Because the number of representatives in each state’s delegation is based on population, larger states such as New York and California elect more representatives to the House, each to two-year terms. A general rule of thumb is that each member of the House of Representatives represents roughly 600,000 people. The House passed a long-stalled foreign aid package on Saturday that gives funding to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, with a majority of lawmakers backing money for American allies across the globe. The package, which now goes to the Senate, is almost certain to become law.

The U.S. House of Representatives is the lower house of Congress and plays a vital role, along with the Senate, in the process of moving proposed legislation to law. The bicameral relationship between the two bodies is vital to the American system of checks and balances that the Founding Fathers of the United States envisioned when writing the U.S. The House of Representatives is part of the Legislative branch of government. There are 212 Democrats officially in the House of Representatives. But that number will be 213 once Tom Suozzi is sworn in after winning the special election in New York to replace Republican George Santos.

The majority party members and the minority party members meet separately to select their leaders. Third parties rarely have had enough members to elect their own leadership, and independents will generally join one of the larger party organizations to receive committee assignments. A party caucus or conference is the name given to a meeting of or organization of all party members in the House. In the instance when the presidency and both Houses of Congress are controlled by one party, the speaker normally takes a low profile and defers to the president. For that situation the House minority leader can play the role of a de facto "leader of the opposition", often more so than the Senate minority leader, due to the more partisan nature of the House and the greater role of leadership. The states of Washington and California use a similar (though not identical) system to that used by Louisiana.

A member of the House is referred to as a representative, congressman, or congresswoman. Before being elected to the Assembly in 2012, he was the political director for the United Nurses Association of California, an affiliate of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. A former labor organizer, Gomez worked for the United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) in 2009. He also served as the Political Representative for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Generally, if a member has a public e-mail address, it can be found on the member's website. The office may list a public e-mail address or provide a form directly on the member's website. The U.S. House of Representatives does not provide a listing of public e-mail addresses for the elected Representatives. This service will assist you by matching your ZIP code to your congressional district, with links to your member's website and contact page. GOP Rep. Michelle Steel, who represents a district that straddles Los Angeles and Orange counties with many Asian American voters, could also face a challenging reelection bid. Garden Grove City Councilwoman Kim Nguyen, a Democrat, announced her candidacy to represent the district that is home to many Vietnamese American voters.

Many of these lawmakers, who include 11 newcomers, have indicated a greater willingness to work on bipartisan legislation than their peers. More than 50 lawmakers explicitly denied the 2020 election results, were supported by the House Freedom Fund during the midterms, or both. The fund is the campaign arm of the House Freedom Caucus, a hard-line faction founded in 2015 that has often (but not always) aligned with Donald J. Trump, has tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and has opposed legislation to protect same-sex marriage rights. Many lawmakers who were leading a chorus of boos and heckling were familiar faces from the far right, including some who are poised to wield real power in the 118th Congress. The defining dynamic for House Republicans, who have a four-vote majority, may be the push and pull between the far right and the rest of the Republican conference. In the 118th Congress which runs through Jan. 3, 2025, Republicans have majority control of the House of Representatives.

They are reckoned as the second most powerful member of their party, behind the minority leader. The Majority Whip is an elected member of the majority party who assists the Speaker of the House and the majority leader to coordinate ideas on, and garner support for, proposed legislation. They are reckoned as the third-ranking member of their party behind the Speaker and the Majority Leader. The minority party offers strong opposition to majority party initiatives but does not counter with policy alternatives of their own. In the instance when the Presidency and both Houses of Congress are controlled by one party, the Speaker normally assumes a lower profile and defers to the President. For that situation the House Minority Leader can play the role of a de facto "leader of the opposition", often more so than the Senate Minority Leader, due to the more partisan nature of the House and the greater role of leadership.

The race was further scrambled when the candidate Porter endorsed, state Sen. Dave Min, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Sacramento. Joanna Weiss, an attorney like Porter, is also running for the seat and has the backing of former Rep. Harley Rouda, who planned to run for the seat until he suffered a brain injury. Of the 435 seats in the House, Democrats need to capture five held by Republicans next year to take back control of Congress.

Each state is guaranteed at least one member of the House of Representatives. The allocation of seats is based on the population within the states, and membership is reapportioned every 10 years, following the decennial census. House members are elected for two-year terms from single-member districts of approximately equal population. The constitutional requirements for eligibility for membership of the House of Representatives are a minimum age of 25 years, U.S. citizenship for at least seven years, and residency of the state from which the member is elected, though he need not reside in the constituency that he represents. The caucus has shifted toward the right in other ways too, because of the departure of conservatives who bucked the party.

North of Porter’s district, Democrats have long salivated — unsuccessfully — over the region represented by GOP Rep. Mike Garcia, which includes Santa Clarita, the Antelope Valley and part of the San Fernando Valley. The once-solidly Republican stronghold has grown more Democratic as Los Angeles residents moved there seeking affordable housing. “This is one of the genuinely few competitive playing fields for House seats,” he said. House of Representatives next year at a pivotal moment for policy decisions about reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights, education and the economy may hinge on Southern California. Early results for the primary election have already flip-flopped several times, but the most recent tranche showed Fong with a strong lead in first place, followed by Boudreaux and Democrat Marisa Wood. 2 weeks before they started calling and emailing about the copay. They made us feel like if it was not paid in full, surgery would be cancelled. All the nurses kept us informed and he was up and walking with a walker shortly after surgery. The only thing is the staff wears the badges backwards so you cannot see their name. I am not sure why they do this, but it would be nice to see their names. They also ask you to bring your home walker but it really is a waste.

Services

They just ask you to walk in the hall and then they put you in a wheelchair to discharge. Then I had to grab the walker with all our stuff out to the car. They should provide walkers at the facility just so people can walk the hall. The next day my husband got an email questionnaire from the surgery center. Our doctor was amazing so I would come back to this facility if my doctor suggested it. For your convenience we now offer One Medical Passport for your surgery. Registration is designed to be quick and easy and completing the form should take you minutes.

Shocked Advised Comedy Tour Tik Tok Nurse Comedy

nurse blake cruise

On large cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers and crew, your community may be the size of a town or even a small city. To handle any health issues that come up in this floating metropolis, cruise lines employ doctors and nurses who work out of an onboard medical center. NurseCon at Sea isn’t a nursing conference without education. So, we are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the California Board of Nursing. I have three DNPs that run and manage nurse candidacy education full time. We are super committed to it, and we’ll probably bring on 30 educators on our next sailing to deliver over 70 hours of CNEs.

It is essential for all passengers to be present at the terminal by their designated arrival time. Those who come ahead of schedule will have to wait until boarding commences, and those who are late will be placed in a subsequent boarding group. You get to do all this while sailing in exotic places around the world. Attendees can opt-in to educational sessions of their choice across various topics as well as take part in social activities on board or explore ports of call during port days. Most of us know Nurse Blake as a funny nurse influencer and comedian. However, Blake is also a strong advocate who is passionate about issues he holds dear to his heart.

#37 - OB Nursing aka Baby Catchers

If you don’t know what I’m talking about or there’s a term I say that you are unaware of I am going to break that down for you during the show to make sure everyone’s on the same page. Everyone has a good time, no matter what you do occupationally. Vacations sometimes are once in a lifetime for people, and for them to connect with friends and family or coworkers is super special. We’ve done three cruises since we launched and had groups of nursing students who graduated together 20 years ago. Now it’s their annual trip, and they’ve been on all three.

What makes NurseCon at Sea different from other nursing conferences?

Before boarding the ship, ensure you have all the necessary documents with you. The event registration already started last June 3rd, 2022. And at just $749, you won’t want to miss out. Plus, you can save more by room-sharing with a roommate. To register, simply provide your full name, birthdate, nationality, address, and phone number. Room prices depend and differ in the Dominican and Bahamas.

What You Can Expect With NurseCon This 2023

I feel like anyone could be a nurse and learn the hard skills, like inserting an IV or inserting a Foley catheter. I think the most unique skill of a nurse is the ability to communicate and connect, and you really can’t teach that in nursing school. I feel like being a nurse has helped me do what I do to connect with other nurses and to be able to do interviews like this, which I absolutely love doing. I love traveling and meeting nurses, it’s definitely a skill that I’ve been able to bring to nursing that nursing has helped me with overtime. Another fun fact, I actually worked at Disney’s Magic Kingdom as Peter Pan.

Cruise from FloridaON THREE DEPARTURE PORTS

His last tour, the PTO Comedy Tour, sold over 120,000 tickets. His shows are often attended by nurses from the same unit for “bonding” experiences, nursing students, and nurse moms looking for a fun night out. NurseCon at Sea has grown to be one of the most popular nursing conferences worldwide in only a couple of years! The positive reviews and fanfare from prior attendees are proof that it is an experience of a lifetime. What’s really cool about my comedy, and just my point of view as a nurse in comedy, is any nurse or a health care worker at a hospital will be able to relate, because we all go through the same things.

Learn About Credit Cards

So, everyone will be super busy, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s outfits. I know the dancers are so excited and already rehearsing and working on the production. We meet every day about NurseCon at Sea, so as soon as the last one is over, we’re already preparing for the next one. I will be working on booking our 2025 cruise later this month. NurseCon is a fun annual nursing conference, which gives dedicated healthcare professionals a remarkable chance to learn.

All your CNEs for FREE, seriously.

To be clear, the onboard facility is not a hospital – it's more akin to a health center or ambulatory care unit. The professionals who work there have training in emergency medicine and the equipment to stabilize a patient even in dire circumstances. Mostly, though, what they deal with are things like sprained ankles, upset stomachs and people who have forgotten to pack medication. Nurse Becky came from me working in Houston, Texas.

Why Did Nurse Blake Start Doing Comedy Shows?

To noon and 3 to 6 p.m.; and on port days from 8 to 10 a.m. If you have an emergency on any cruise ship, you can push a button on your stateroom phone for help – the equivalent of dialing 911 from your home phone. For minor ailments, you can visit the medical facility during set office hours.

It is important to adhere to your assigned time slot for boarding on the day of your travel. Therefore, arriving at any other time can lead to delays and may adversely impact the schedule. When you cruise with Norwegian, you're free. Our award-winning ships are designed for you to enjoy as you choose while cruising to beautiful destinations around the world. Along the way, enjoy a variety of superb restaurants with no fixed dining times, Broadway shows and thrilling waterslides – all of which will make your journey just as exciting as the places you visit. Training requirements for nurses also are quite detailed.

NurseCon at Sea is a spectacular nursing event that provides an incredible opportunity for nurses to combine learning and leisure. This unique cruise conference offers a perfect balance between continuing education credits (CNEs) and vacation-like exploration. Staff also must be certified in advanced life support or have certification or physician specialist training in areas such as emergency medicine, anesthesiology or critical care. That said, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many cruise lines have expanded their medical care facilities on ships and added new requirements for medical personnel. Royal Caribbean, for example, now requires all its doctors to have training in acute respiratory illness and has added an infection control officer who oversees the line's infection control plan on each ship.

We also have two full days at sea, so it’ll be our longest one yet. And that’s because people wanted it to be longer. And our theme nights are sports night and fairy tales.

So that’s the one thing that really excites me and just keeps me going and inspires me to keep doing what I do. NurseCon at Sea is a multi-day event, it’s a cruise and we have the whole ship to ourselves. I perform my show a few nights, but it’s not just a Nurse Blake cruise. We also give accredited CNEs for nurses, so I bring on 25 nursing educators.

So, if you look at our pictures from NurseCon at Sea and say, “Wow, that pool is so lit,” it’s because we bring our fog machines, lasers, and lighting. We have a huge production team and staff that helps elevate the regular cruise ship experience, which is already so amazing and epic, but we want to put the NurseCon at Sea touch to it. We like to talk about topics that many other conferences don’t necessarily talk about, and that’s so special. The coolest part is that you don’t have to be a nurse to attend.

The cruise line and CDC have mandated guidelines to guarantee safety during the nursing conference cruise. Stay connected for updates; changes to registration and rules may occur prior to departure. While medical personnel are on call 24 hours a day, most passengers visit during scheduled hours. Carnival Cruise Line's facilities, for instance, are open on embarkation day from 8 to 9 a.m.

So, now it’s becoming a tradition for some people, and that’s special. Nursing school was hard, challenging, and not easy, and I had a lot of meltdowns, but I did it. And when I was about halfway through my program in 2013, I became president of the Florida Nursing Student Association. And that sheds light on gaps in education for nurses. I attended many nursing conferences; they were all so boring in these hideous corporate centers.

This is the grand alpine heart of Europe with some of the finest mountain scenery on earth, described by the composer Mendelssohn as ‘the most wonderful of all in this unbelievably beautiful country’. On viewing the legendary snow-capped peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau you’ll be quite simply awestruck. We then ascend by mountain railway for more extraordinary vistas, with the crystal-clear lakes reflecting the meadows and forests below. Later we’ll descend again by mountain railway before returning to the ship. Please note, temperatures will be significantly lower at altitude, even during the summer months, so it’s advisable to pack suitable clothing.

River Cruises in Switzerland

As the sun sets and the riverside lights begin to twinkle, enjoy the views through the restaurant’s panoramic windows as we commence our cruise towards Strasbourg, arriving later tonight. As the sun sets and the riverside lights begin to twinkle there are wonderful views over the imposing Vosges massif. You enjoy this evening’s dinner en route to Switzerland and our next mooring at Basel. Later you drive through some of Central Europe’s most stunning scenery – the Black Forest Mountains. Your final day cruising is spent gliding through the dramatic scenery of the rift valley separating the Vosges and Black Forest mountains.

Someone always picking up glasses and trash, taking used towels off chairs unoccupied. Just a couple notes from our recent (July 23) Infinity cruise to share with you. My sister and I cruised together and we found the ship to be generally in good condition. This was just a quick get away for us and we really just wanted to lay around and relax for a week. We are seasoned cruisers with over 20 cruises each,  on different lines. Celebrity is my preferred brand and Disney is my sisters.

Where does Celebrity Reflection sail to?

We decided to ride the trolley around before deciding where to get off. All 3 stops are within walking distance of each other. It looks to me like Hilton owns all the property in this section of the island. The trolley stops at the Hotel where you have an infinity pool, then the fishing pier where there are a couple shops, then Resorts World then the public beach.

Today's Birthdays - Enjoy your day!

When the ship is in Europe, you can expect to find a fairly international mix of passengers. We are on the Infinity right now. Save your money on le Petite Chef. It is great is when there are just a few guests. We tried it again on this cruise as we loved it in the past...it was awful.

Infinity... Just a few thoughts from our recent cruise.

When first proposed it was described as it's own private enclave. Then later descriptions implied it was just an extension of the Hilton and Resorts World Beaches, which is not the same as a totally separate enclave. If you look at Google maps Satellite view you'll get a definitive answer.

We actually asked our attendant not to deliver them after the first day because everything is on the app. The only thing we found different was the "sale" papers that come in them. The sales are not listed on the app. We were about 1800 passengers we were told. The Theater is really hit or miss.  As a high school teacher....

Celebrity Edge Review

Celebrity Edge is a different ship from the rest of the Celebrity Cruises fleet and was designed to attract people who have never cruised before. Celebrity typically draws middle- and upper-class folks in their mid-40s and older. The pool decks never felt crowded and there were always servers coming around to check on us. We stayed on the upper deck with a nice breeze.

The same was true on QM2 in March. Covered in rust and you could barely see through the glass rail. The worst condition I’ve ever seen her in. In fact, many traditional cruisers may have a hard time with the ship.

They were understaffed and the amount of guests were too many for this type of venue. I live in Georgetown about 3 miles from the Franklin County line, lol. Eat in Frankfort all the time, closer than going into Georgetown. You are lucky your A/C worked in your cabin and hallway,  and you did not have mildew in your shower stall and on the curtain..

It's a totally separate Beach Club that sits within the the Resorts World Hilton complex but isn't connected at all to the Hilton Hotels. Having said this who actually owns the beach club and/or developed it is still not clear. There definitely is joint agreements as to the usage. We board Infinity a week from Saturday. Will be our first time back on M-class in many moons. In Bimini is that beach and pool at Resorts the same as the Virgin Beach Club that Virgin Voyages uses, or something totally different?

Celebrity Edge didn't just revolutionize entertainment. The ship has turned tendering -- that often unpleasant experience where you have to board a small boat to get to a port -- into an infinitely more pleasant experience. The Magic Carpet is a tennis court-sized moveable deck, kitted out with an open-air lounge and bar.

These shows (with the exception of the Piano Man and the Comedian) reminded me of HS Musicals. LOL  The piano guy was AMAZING and he preformed another night in the lounge. Get there early, people were sitting on the floor! We went to the adult comedian show in the theater and he was super funny. The only pool game we saw was passenger vs officers volleyball. There were no themed nights on our cruise.

I heard when a Virgin ship isn’t in port you can pay to spend the day at their Beach Club. We will be on the same itinerary in September and these ports are new to us except Key West so it is great to have reports from recent cruises. Seems like Resort World is the better option for Bimini especially with the pool since there have been some recent reports of jelly fish in the water. Find your Celebrity Edge Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below. Find your Celebrity Summit Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below.

Infinity is/ was a nice  cozy shp but needs a serious overhaul from inside out. Thanks for posting about Infinity. Appreciate your thoughts on the ship and also about each of the ports.

The Best Time To Cruise Alaska What To Expect In Every Month

best time to cruise alaska to see northern lights 2023

Research the best times to visit each destination and consult with your cruise operator for expert guidance on optimal viewing spots and excursion options. The northern lights— known to science enthusiasts as the aurora borealis— are like a colorful dance party in the sky. Your best bet for catching these magical lights are in locations close to the Arctic Circle. This is because the magnetic fields of Earth’s North and South Poles are consistently weak enough for the sun’s charged particles to enter our atmosphere at high speed. The Yukon, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay National Park — Alaskan cruises offer direct access to the last American frontier.

Go to Fairbanks and the Auroral Oval

These tours take you to destinations such as Fairbanks and other inland areas, which typically have clearer skies compared to the Inside Passage where cruise ships navigate. While it is possible to catch a glimpse of the lights from Denali National Park and Preserve during the viewing season, your chances improve significantly when you venture further north to Fairbanks and beyond. When planning to witness the Northern Lights on an Alaska cruise, it's crucial to pick the right time. The best time to see these celestial wonders is during the transition from daylight to night, when the city below is embraced by darkened skies. While many visitors travel to the Great Land in anticipation of this cosmic spectacle, there are factors that can obstruct the view.

Book Your Alaska Cruise Vacation

Whether accommodating dietary restrictions, celebrating special occasions, or providing additional support during activities, the crew is dedicated to each adventurer’s needs. Add to that a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights in their full glory, and the adventure possibilities are as varied as Alaska’s magnificent landscapes. Yet, the core mission remains unchanged—to provide transformative experiences and memorable adventures for guests.
